Prévalence : Les estimations de prévalence ont été calculées à partir des estimations d’incidence décrites ci-dessus et des estimations de survie également fournies par le BCR, issues du couplage avec la Banque-Carrefour de la sécurité sociale belge. Nous avons utilisé une perspective de prévalence sur 10 ans, ce qui signifie qu’à partir de 2013, nous avons pu définir la prévalence au cours d’une année donnée comme la somme des mois-personnes passés dans les différents états de santé.

Années vécues avec un handicap : les années vécues avec un handicap (YLD) ont été calculées en utilisant à la fois une perspective d'incidence et de prévalence comme mesure de la morbidité. Les YLD sont calculées comme le produit du nombre de cas prévalents par le poids de l'invalidité (DW), moyenné sur les différents états de santé de la maladie. Les DW reflètent la réduction relative de la qualité de vie, sur une échelle allant de 0 (santé parfaite) à 1 (décès).
