dcterms:description "Sinds 2011 coördineert de dienst Epidemiologie van Infectieziekten van Sciensano, welke verantwoordelijk is voor de surveillance van infectieziekten, een netwerk van referentielaboratoria voor humane microbiologie genaamd Nationale Referentiecentra (NRC). Elk NRC bestaat uit één of meer laboratoria en wordt als zodanig aangewezen voor een pathogeen of een groep pathogenen volgens duidelijk gedefinieerde criteria in een procedure die maximaal elke 5 jaar wordt herhaald. Het Koninklijk Besluit van 09/02/2011 definieert het wettelijke en financiële kader waarbinnen de NRC's werken en de taken die ze moeten uitvoeren. De activiteiten van de NRC's hebben betrekking op individuele ziekteverwekkers of groepen ziekteverwekkers die als prioritair worden beschouwd in termen van diagnose, kwaliteit van zorg en behoeften van de volksgezondheid. Om beter voorbereid te zijn op mogelijke toekomstige pandemieën is een interoperabele infrastructuur ontwikkeld om de surveillance van infectieziekten te verbeteren. De overkoepelende architectuur, be.Prepared genaamd, faciliteert de veilige centrale verzameling, verwerking en koppeling van klinische en epidemiologische gegevens met microbiële genomische indicatorgegevens afkomstig van whole genome sequencing (WGS) analysen. Door NRC-gegevens te integreren in be.Prepared worden de surveillance-activiteiten versterkt, waardoor uitbraken tijdig kunnen worden opgespoord, antimicrobiële resistentie kan worden gevolgd en volksgezondheid kan worden verbeterd. Naast hun surveillancetaak ondersteunen NRC's laboratoria bij de technische aspecten van diagnostiek en helpen ze de overheid bij het beheren van de volksgezondheid. "Depuis 2011, le Service d'épidémiologie des maladies infectieuses de Sciensano, qui est responsable de la surveillance des maladies infectieuses, coordonne un réseau de laboratoires de référence pour la microbiologie humaine, appelés Centres Nationaux de Référence (CNR). Chaque CNR est composé d'un ou plusieurs laboratoires et est désigné comme tel pour un pathogène ou un groupe des pathogènes selon des critères clairement définis dans le cadre d'une procédure qui est répétée au maximum tous les 5 ans. L'arrêté royal du 09/02/2011 définit le cadre juridique et financier dans lequel les CNR opèrent et les tâches qu'ils doivent accomplir. Les activités des CNR couvrent pathogènes individuels ou groupes des pathogènes considérés comme prioritaires en termes de diagnostic, de qualité des soins et de besoins de santé publique. Pour renforcer la préparation à d'éventuelles pandémies, une infrastructure interopérable a été mise en place pour améliorer la surveillance des maladies infectieuses. L'architecture globale apellée be.Prepared facilite la collection, le traitement et l'interconnexion centralisés et sécurisés des données cliniques et épidémiologiques avec les données d'indicateurs génomiques microbiens dérivées de l'analyse du séquençage du génome entier (WGS). En intégrant les données du CNR dans be.Prepared, les efforts de surveillance seront renforcés, ce qui permettra de mieux détecter les épidémies, de suivre l'évolution de la résistance aux antimicrobiens et d'apporter une réponse globale en matière de santé publique. Outre leur rôle de surveillance, les CNR soutiennent les laboratoires dans les aspects techniques du diagnostic et aident le gouvernement à gérer la santé publique. "Since 2011, the Service Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases of Sciensano, which is responsible for the surveillance of infectious diseases, has been coordinating a network of reference laboratories for human microbiology called National Reference Centres (NRC). Each NRC consists of one or more laboratories and is designated as such for a pathogen or a group of pathogens according to clearly defined criteria in a procedure that is repeated at most every 5 years. The Royal Decree of 09/02/2011 defines the legal and financial framework in which the NRCs operate and the tasks they must perform. The activities of the NRCs cover individual pathogens or groups of pathogens that are considered priorities in terms of diagnosis, quality of care and public health needs. To strengthen preparedness for possible future pandemics, an interoperable infrastructure has been developed to improve infectious disease surveillance. The overarching architecture called be.Prepared facilitates the secure central collection, processing and linkage of laboratory, clinical and epidemiological data with microbial genomic indicator data derived from whole genome sequencing (WGS) analyses. By integrating NRC data into be.Prepared, surveillance efforts will be strengthened, enabling better detection of outbreaks, tracking of antimicrobial resistance and overall public health response. In addition to their surveillance role, NRCs support laboratories in technical aspects of diagnostics and assist the government in managing health threats.
